Attendance Reminder
Families are reminded of the importance of ensuring the school office has updated contact information including telephone number, home address, email address, emergency contact information and medical information, if applicable. As a part of the board’s safe arrival protocol, please ensure you notify the school office each time your child will be away. If you have activated your Edsby account, you can login to Edsby at www.yrdsb.edsby.com and report your child’s absence online. You can access an online video tutorial to learn more (bit.ly/edsbyabsence) about how to do this.
A Guide to the School Year and Start-Up Packages
The Guide to the School Year is available online only. A link is shared in the start-up packages and available from the Family Resources page on the Board website. Online start-up forms will be sent centrally to all families at all schools at the start of the school year.
The Board will send a central email to all families with a personalized link to a Google Form to complete the start-up forms at the start of the school year. Please note, you will need your child's GAPPS login information to complete the form.
Teacher and Class Placements:

Changes to class placements will not be made at this point in the school year. Our staff have used their professional judgment to carefully create balanced classes that support the academic and social success of all students. These decisions are made with great care to ensure that every student has the best possible opportunity to thrive.
School Grounds:
During the school day, our school grounds are restricted to staff, volunteers, and students to ensure a safe and focused learning environment.
While staff and students participate in various clean- up activities throughout the year, the community is reminded that while on Board property:
- the disposal of public waste in school containment bins is not permitted;
- leaving litter or waste on school grounds and playing fields, including fireworks, toxic and dangerous materials or any form of illegal
dumping is not permitted; - The "Stoop and Scoop" of pet waste is a by-law requirement of each municipality; and
- All pets shall be kept on-leash when being walked on school board property.
Shoes at recess:
For safety, please remind your students that shoes need to be kept on during recess, especially while playing soccer on the fields.
Birthdays, Treats and Other Celebrations:
We appreciate the importance of personal celebrations but request that they be celebrated at home. Treats and loot bags (e.g., candies, stickers, pencils, erasers, pizza, etc.) should not be sent to school.
A Note on Mobile Devices:
This letter is to inform you about student use of personal mobile devices in schools, in particular, students must store their mobile device out of view, and power off or set to silent mode during the school day. Please click here to review the full letter.
